Just as it has for the previous 20 years, Beaver Dam will hold its Strawberry Festival this weekend complete with all of the popular annual attractions and a feature attraction that Mayor Paul Sandefur said is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
“We always try to add something new every year. Last year we had the shark tank, this year we are doing a NASCAR experience,” Sandefur said. “They are bringing in a real NASCAR car that will be hooked up to a computer simulator where people can actually get in it.”
For a nominal fee, those taking part in the experience will control the steering accelerator and brakes possibly reaching speeds of about 190 miles per hour, he said. The experience will be available Saturday and Monday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m.
