Saturday evenings’ “Farm To Fork” fundraiser for Muhlenberg County Farmers Market was a huge success. Held to spotlight the bountiful produce available for purchase during the season, the dinner was very well received by the community. The evening was rounded out with a message from keynote speaker, Sharon Spencer, Division Director, Direct Farm Marketing, Kentucky Department of Agriculture, pictured below.
Several members of the Muhlenberg County Farmers Market had display tables welcoming everyone to the evening. Tickets for the event had been sold out for some time. Pictured below, the Chase BeLiles family of Ke-Ron Farms.
The food was prepared under the direction of Nora Stewart, and desserts prepared by MCHS Culinary Arts, director Jan Sharp. Muhlenberg County Homemakers helped Mrs. Stewart with the meal preparation and cooking. Appetizers, roasted chicken, marinated fresh raw veggies, sweet corn on the cob, squash casserole, and corn bread was the evenings’ menu; served to the guests by the 4H Club and Future Farmers of America members. Upon completion of the meal, dessert of ice cream and fresh fruit cobbler was served.
Decorations for the evening were various everyday items you might find on any farm in the county, paired with the vibrant goodness of the season. Farm vignettes were placed throughout the venue, adding to the warm and inviting atmosphere.
