Burglary Attempt Unsuccessful; OC Sheriff’s Office and Intended Victim Team Up

Earlier in the day Tuesday, deputies of the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to a burglary in progress. The homeowner arrived to find an unknown person leaving his residence with the victim’s items in his possession. The suspect entered a small silver car and fled the scene.

The victim followed behind him and updated their location with Ohio County 911 Central Dispatch. The victim stated the suspect’s license plate was covered up. Units with the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police were able to intercept the suspect at the intersection of Mud College Road and Livermore Road. Once detained, the victim was able to identify several items belonging to him inside the suspect’s vehicle.

The suspect, John Daugherty, was charged with Burglary 2nd degree and taken to the Ohio County Detention Center.
