GRAHAM — James Franklin ‘Frankie’ Sparks, 89, of Graham passed away on Monday evening November 12, at 11:36 p.m. at home with his family. He was born on July 19, 1929 the son of Everette Sparks and Lois Wright Sparks. He was a member of East Union Baptist Church and served as a deacon. He was a coal miner for 44 years working for Duncan and Peabody Coal Mines. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert (Bub) Sparks and wife Corrine, and sister Wanda Price.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years Peggy Hill Sparks of Graham, daughters Ann Davis of Georgetown, and Vicki (James) Jones of Lexington, 4 grandsons Seth (Stephen) Davis, Scott Davis, Ryan (Alie) Doane, and Corey (Leigh) Doane, great grandchildren Brooke and Tyson Davis, Bradley and Lainey Doane, Piper and Maddie Doane, brother Doyle (Opie) Sparks of Graham, brothers-in-law Kenneth Doss and Buddy Price, and many nieces, nephews, and special cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 18, at 1 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, officiated by Rev. Doug Strader and Rev. Joe Chambers. Burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville. Visitation will be Saturday night, November 17, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home and from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 18, at Gary’s Funeral Home.
