SACRAMENTO – David Earl Payton, 74, passed away in peace, surrounded by loved ones, on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at Baptist Health in Madisonville. Born August 21, 1945, in Bremen to the late Truman and Eva Dean Payton. He was a member of Sacramento Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was a cherished friend and member of the community. He retired from Alcan Aluminum after a 36 year-long career. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother James Ray “Red” Payton.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Axtell Payton; sons Steven Payton and Eric (Jennifer) Payton; two grandsons and siblings Otis Payton, Margaret “Sissy” Hickerson, Gary Don Payton, Charles “Cotton” Payton, and Keith Payton.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 14, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacramento Cumberland Presbyterian Church, with Bro. Kevin Brantley officiating. Burial will follow in Sacramento Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the church and Saturday after 9:00 a.m. at the church.
