When Angela Stewart noticed the need for shelter in Ohio County, she took action and is now the president of the Promise Home, Ohio County’s first homeless shelter.

The Promise Home is a non-profit organization started by Stewart and aims to provide housing to struggling families, specifically women and children in need. Stewart said she has noticed a huge need for housing and shelter in the county as she says it is becoming a growing issue. Whether it is from loss of a job, domestic abuse, drug or alcohol abuse or numerous other situations that have caused individuals to be displaced.
